How to make sure action items from sales meetings get done
Give each action item an owner, a due date and a plan before the meeting is cold. Ask the owner to approve the plan, do the work in the tool, and then check the result in the tool. Rulebook does these steps for your team, and it keeps the proof.
Why action items get lost
In a pipeline review, a leader says "Chris, move the Acme deal to negotiation at $36,000". Everybody agrees. Then the meeting ends, the next meeting starts, and the change waits in somebody's notes. Nobody asks again until the forecast is wrong.
Five steps from "said" to "done"
- Heard. Rulebook reads the transcript and writes down each action item, with the exact words.
- Planned. Each item gets an owner, a plan and, when someone said one, a due date. Each value in the plan links to the sentence that it came from.
- Approved. The owner approves the plan in Slack with one click, or edits it.
- Done. Rulebook updates the deal in the CRM and writes the email draft.
- Proved. Rulebook reads the deal back from the CRM. The work is done only when the values match, and the receipt keeps the proof.
What we tested
- From a pipeline review transcript, Rulebook updated deals in HubSpot and saved a Gmail draft. The values read back from HubSpot matched, and 3 of 3 receipts were complete.
- A request in a Slack channel changed the amount of a deal in HubSpot and in Salesforce. The values read back from both CRMs matched.
These results come from Brightloop, our demo company with synthetic data, on real HubSpot, Salesforce, Slack and Google accounts. They are not results from customers.
What is still in development
Today, Rulebook reads the meeting transcripts that your team gives it. Live capture from Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams is in development. See how Rulebook works, step by step.
